A WordPress-based website, homewoodscouts.org, as well as several accounts on various social media platforms are operated by Pack 3807. The main goals of these are to provide a communication medium for its Cub Scouts, families, Scouters and Coordinators, as well as provide a marketing medium to prospective Cub Scouts.
A. Personal Information Collected. This website will use interactive forms to collect personal information and BSA-oriented information. This information may be released to The Baltimore Area Council and/or to the National Council. The information will also be used for verification purposes, registration, historical data purposes, and trend-analysis. The website will create cookies on a visitor’s computer. In addition, some of the applications will send information to third-party vendors or connect to third-party vendors for processing credit card transactions and other monetary transactions. Children 12 and under should not enter data via this site’s interactive applications.
B. Security. While the Pack takes reasonable precautions to protect the privacy of this information, its security is not guaranteed.
C. Policies Regarding Children. Portions of the website are directed to children ages 12 and under. Children 12 and under are not permitted to enter data through this website’s interactive applications. Parents and guardians of children ages 12 and under should enter the date for such children. Such information is used only for the purposes of providing information for Scouting programs (events, unit registration, chartering and re-chartering). The Pack does not solicit or intend to collect detailed information, such as addresses and telephone numbers, without the consent of a parent or guardian. The Pack does not and will not condone a child’s participation in any online activity or the child’s disclosure of more personal information than is necessary to participate in that activity.
D. Content Participation. Written parental consent is required before youth members may be granted to access to any editors-only area.
E. Use of Images. Photos of children under the age of 12 will often be posted on the website or other social media. For privacy and protection, a children’s full name together with a photo of the child should never appear on the website or other social media. If a child’s full name with a photo of the child is accidentally placed on a page in the site or other social media, please report the error to the Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, or Committee Chair immediately. If a parent or guardian does not wish for their child to appear at all on the website or other social media, they should notify the Pack in writing and all efforts will be made to comply with their request.
F. Parental Involvement. Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their child about using the Internet. Keeping their personal information private regardless of what site they are visiting is important and should be discussed with them directly.
G. Youth Protection Training. Online safety is part of Youth Protecting Training, which may be found on the National BSA website.
H. Confirmation and Correction. You may confirm the information we have collected about you or your child at any time by contacting the Committee Chair, Cubmaster or Secretary. If any information the Pack collects about a person or child is incorrect or inaccurate, the Pack will correct that information immediately and notify you of the corrections made.
