Hey folks, the Prettyboy trail hike is today at 1pm – it’s the first really “scouty” trail hike we’ve been able to plan since Covid came along. Snacks are provided. Hope everyone can make it. Bring lots of friends! One adult per child.

Subject: Reminder! Hike tomorrow at 1 pm. Come even if you haven’t signed up!
Long email but worth reading…
Just wanted to remind everyone about the Spring Adventure Hike tomorrow. Prettyboy Dam Trail is a real, rugged hiking trail. It is somewhat flat, but gets narrow in places and requires hiking over rocks, past streams and through plant growth. The level of challenge is appropriate for children ages 6 through 11.
The hike is 2 miles – 1 mile each way. Don’t be worried about the length – it’s not unreasonable for Cub-aged kids (or even us out-of-shape adults). There’s no way to get lost, so if it does feel like it’s getting too long, you can break off and easily find your way back. The whole group can also turn back at any time if we decide to… but it would be cool to see the dam at the end of the trail. It’s amazing. Total time there and back plus breaks – about 2 hours.
We’re meet tomorrow, May 15th, 2021 @ 1 pm. 0 Meeting spot is:
Highlands Trail Parking Lot
1243 Falls Rd.
Bentley Springs, MD 21120
You bring: water, bug spray and sunscreen.
We will supply compasses and whistles. Individually packaged and sanitized trail food will be available for everyone. Caution, there will be nuts. Sanitizing wipes will be available. Per CDC, MD and BSA guidelines: YOU DON’T NEED TO WEAR A MASK, but we do ask that everyone keep 3 feet apart from non-family whenever unmasked.
Invite friends! This is a cool way to show them how awesome scouting is! Bonus! The scout who brings the most friends gets a special reward!
Email me back with any questions, or call/text me.
See you tomorrow…
Yours in Scouting,
Cubmaster Matt
