Hello, Pack 3807 families!
It’s that time again – our monthly Pack meeting, this Sunday at 4 pm!
To improve ease of use, efficiency and Internet safety, we’ll begin using the Google Classrooms platform for our virtual meetings starting at this meeting. Google Classrooms was created for a school environment, so we’ve had to adapt a bit. In Google Classrooms, leaders are known as “teachers,” scouts are known as “students” and meetings are called “classes.”
To work correctly, only Google pack account holders will be able to join meetings (your regular Google account won’t work). Each registered scout has been issued their own Google pack account. Each Google pack account username is in the format of last.first@homewoodscouting.org , where last is the scout’s registered last name, and first is the scout’s registered full first name. (By way of example, if I was a scout my username would be herman.matthew@homewoodscouting.org .) The temporary password is (redacted – email for info) which you will have to change immediately upon first use. Parents do not get accounts.
IMPORTANT! Only registered scouts and scouters have Google pack accounts. Non-registered leaders and parents will not have an account. If your scout has been attending meetings but not yet officially registered and paid dues, they will not have an account. Contact your den leader asap for assistance!
To access meetings on Google Classrooms, navigate to http://classrooms.google.com and log in. If you’re already logged into a different Google account in your browser, that account may interfere with your ability to use your pack credentials. This is easily solved by opening a private (or incognito) window in your browser and logging in with your pack account credentials from there instead.
Once you’re logged in, you’ll have to add your classes (meetings). Here are instructions on how to join Google classes using a code. This is a one-time process and won’t need to be repeated again.

Den 6 (Wolf) Meeting: (redacted – email for info)
You should join the Pack Meeting and your own den. Don’t join any of the other dens! Once you have registered for your two meetings, test it out by clicking on the Pack Meeting. That will bring you to the Pack Meeting stream. This is where the meeting will begin on Sunday at 4 pm. You’ll see a Google Meet video link in the classroom page header. Click on it. If a Google Meet room pops up, you’re golden! If not, uh-oh. Let me know right away.
